DURHAM, N.C. — Sentinel Data Centers, which is building a massive 420,000 square foot complex in Durham that will cost some $200 million, has hired two executives who will help lead the Triangle operation.

The firm will hire up to 20 people to staff the center in coming months.

Brian Baker, a former vice president of sales at Hosted Solutions, will serve as vice president for Southeast Business Development.

Matthew Baker, a former U.S. Navy submarine officer, will serve as site director. He left the Navy earlier this year.

The Bakers are not related, a spokesperson for the company said.

The data center is currently under construction.

Sentinel said it will hire between 15 and 20 people in the next few months to staff the facility, which is called NC-1.

“The caliber of our team is a core differentiator of Sentinel,” said Sentinel Co-President Todd Aaron. “Designing, building and operating large enterprise data centers is what we do. Assembling smart, highly qualified, mission-critical operations teams provides our users the peace of mind to focus their resources on their own core competencies.”

The first phase of NC-1 is scheduled to become operational in June.

Sentinel launched in 2001. Its focus is on large enterprise customers.
